Sarah Smith has more than 40 years’ experience across health and healthcare, having held a variety of strategic NHS Board-level Executive Director roles in both commissioner and provider organisations.

Sarah began her career as a pharmacist before progressing into senior clinical and managerial leadership positions within primary care and acute hospital trusts. In her later NHS executive roles, she was responsible for the development of clinical service strategies, associated capital business cases, and annual business planning programmes.

Following her NHS career, Sarah embarked on a second career in public health, having previously completed the national public health specialty training programme. She currently serves as a Consultant in Health Protection with the UK Health Security Agency, specialising in healthcare-associated infections.

This is Sarah’s first non-executive leadership role, and she is delighted to have the opportunity to contribute to the continued success and development of Gloucestershire Managed Services through her extensive experience in healthcare leadership, strategy, and public health.
