Delivering Quality Catering Every Day.
Our Catering Department plays a vital role in supporting the wellbeing of patients, staff, and visitors through nutritious, high-quality meals served with care. Each day, we prepare and deliver an average of 1,500 patient meals and 750 meals for staff and visitors, designed by our experienced chefs using carefully selected ingredients. Alongside our hot and cold food offerings, we provide a wide range of beverages and convenient vending services across both hospital sites.
Our friendly catering team is committed to delivering an exceptional dining experience, and this extends beyond day-to-day service. We regularly support special events and cultural celebrations throughout the year, including Christmas, Easter, Iftar, Onam, and Black History Month, with themed menus that are always well received by both staff and patients.
In April 2023, we proudly took over the St Luke’s and Oncology shops at Cheltenham General Hospital from the Royal Voluntary Society (RVS). As part of this transition, we donated £5,320 to the Cheltenham and Gloucester Hospitals Charity, continuing our commitment to giving back to the hospital community.

Sustainability and Our Green Commitment
At Gloucestershire Managed Services, sustainability is at the heart of our catering strategy. We’re proud to support the Trust’s Green Plan with meaningful action to reduce waste and improve environmental impact.
In the past year, our catering team completed Phase 1 of a food waste recycling project, laying the groundwork for 100% food waste recycling across our hospital sites. This first phase focused on back-of-house food preparation areas. Phase 2 will expand the scheme to include ward kitchens, clinical areas, and staff kitchens, using household-style food waste caddies to make recycling as easy and accessible as possible.
Looking ahead, we are preparing to implement a new Electronic Meal Ordering system, which will support more efficient service delivery and reduce overproduction. We’re also working to stabilise service changes following the removal of the staff food supplement. Our goal is to continually improve, reduce waste, and deliver a high-quality, sustainable dining experience for everyone we serve.
