Deaf Awareness Week (6th – 12th May 2024), is designed to promote greater awareness and understanding of the challenges faced by the deaf community, and to help to break down the communication barriers that prevent deaf people from fully participating in society. Inclusion is something the organisation is passionate about and there are things we can all do to ensure that both colleagues and patients feel more included.

In support of Deaf Awareness Week, Shananne Squire, GMS Domestic Assistant was joined in this video by Mark Pietroni, Medical Director, Kaye Law-Fox, GMS Chair to discuss what deaf awareness week means on a personal level, some of the challenges faced and what you can do to support colleagues and patients who are hard of hearing or deaf.
