Christmas is coming and Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS) catering team have come up with a new innovative solution to this year’s traditional Christmas lunch – Christmas in a Box.
Every year over 1000 hospital staff enjoy a traditional festive fayre at one of the restaurants based at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital or Cheltenham General Hospital. However, this year due to social distancing and COVID-19 restrictions, the team are unable to serve Christmas lunch in the usual way. Instead, the team had the idea of creating a small takeaway box which contains everything you would need to replace a traditional Christmas Roast Turkey Lunch or Nut Roast – complete with a Christmas cracker and even a little surprise.
Shelly Alder, Head of Catering Services, GMS said: “We wanted to come up with something fun and quirky, but at the same time would suit the traditional Christmas lunch lovers. We knew that we wouldn’t be able to serve Christmas lunches like we have in previous years, but we wanted to help make the festivities special and we are really excited to launch Christmas in a Box as a result. Many thanks to Georgia Evans, for coming up with this great idea.”
In the box you will find:
A Brioche Bun with a choice of 3 fillings
Christmas Pudding and Brandy Sauce
Christmas Cracker
