Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has completed a key infrastructure upgrade with the installation of a new pressurisation unit at the Gloucestershire site, improving the resilience and efficiency of heating and hot water services for patients, staff and visitors.
When the existing pressurisation unit reached the end of its operational life and became increasingly at risk of failure, Gloucestershire Managed Services (GMS) successfully secured capital investment to fund its replacement.
This significant investment in the Trust’s infrastructure will help ensure reliable heating and hot water services for years to come. The new pressurisation unit improves the resilience of the system, reducing the risk of disruption to patient care and day-to-day hospital operations. It is also more energy efficient, helping the Trust reduce energy consumption while supporting its wider sustainability goals.
By investing in essential infrastructure now, the Trust is helping to protect services, improve reliability and ensure patients, visitors and staff continue to benefit from a safe, comfortable and well-maintained healthcare environment.
Quote from Terry Hull, Strategic Asset Director GMS,
“This project is a great example of proactive investment in our critical infrastructure. The previous unit had reached the end of its operational life and replacing it before failure was essential to maintaining reliable heating and hot water services for the hospital. The new system is more resilient, more efficient and better equipped to support the needs of our patients and staff. We will continue to monitor its performance closely throughout the winter and measure the benefits it delivers.”
Quote from Jamie Lavis, Portfolio Director of Estates and Facilities GHFT,
“While patients and staff may never see this equipment, it plays a vital role behind the scenes in supporting the day-to-day running of our hospitals. Investing in essential infrastructure like this helps ensure we can continue providing s
afe, high-quality care while making our estate more sustainable and resilient for the future. I would like to thank everyone involved in delivering this important project.”
The GMS Energy Team will track the performance of the new installation throughout the winter and report on the project’s benefits, including energy efficiency improvements, at year end.
