Gloucestershire Managed Services is proud to celebrate three remarkable colleagues who between them have dedicated more than 150 years of service to the NHS, supporting patients, staff and hospital services across Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.

Pamela Telford began her career in 1976 as a Catering Assistant at just 16 years old, working within patient meals.
Her career reflects the scale and evolution of hospital catering, from delivering meals across multiple wards to supporting large events and formal functions, including a royal visit by Princess Anne.
Christmas was one of catering’s busiest and most special times. Staff enjoyed festive lunches with beautifully laid tables, while on Christmas Day whole turkeys were sent to each ward, where surgeons carved meals for patients. As meal belts kept running, the Salvation Army sang carols for staff by the catering department doors.
Pamela has built lifelong friendships during her time in the NHS and is known for her commitment, whether supporting colleagues during severe weather, contributing to hospital events or continuing her work today preparing meals and supporting services for staff, patients and visitors.
Carole Kelly also joined the Trust in March 1976 as a Catering Assistant in patient meals and has since

become a much-loved member of the retail team at Fosters Restaurant. Over 35 years in retail, Carole has become known for her humour, energy and team spirit,
mentoring apprentices and supporting colleagues through decades of change. She has been central to many memorable moments, from themed days to BBQs and events.
She has played a key role in countless hospital events and milestones, and her dedication was especially evident during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she continued to support staff and patients throughout a challenging period.

Steven Doyle began his NHS career in 1975 in catering, where he quickly developed a strong appreciation for teamwork and the vital role non-clinical staff play in patient care.
In 1978, he moved into the stores department, progressing through a number of roles including Materials Management Supervisor and Materials Officer.
Now working as a Materials Management Officer and Domestics Storekeeper, Steven is known for his practical knowledge, reliability and willingness to support colleagues.
Pamela Telford, Carole Kelly and Steven Doyle have each built extraordinary careers spanning five decades, demonstrating commitment, resilience and a shared passion for delivering high-quality support services behind the scenes and they continue to do so.
All three colleagues have shown unwavering dedication, adaptability and pride in their work, embodying the values of the NHS and the importance of teamwork across every service. Most of their service has been with Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, prior to the creation of Gloucestershire Managed Services a wholly owned subsidiary established seven years ago.
Everyone at Gloucestershire Managed Services and Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust would like to congratulate Pamela, Carole and Steven on their outstanding achievements and thank them for their exceptional contribution to the NHS.
We also celebrated colleagues reaching milestones across 25 to 45 years, representing teams from catering, domestics, portering, capital and materials management, each playing a vital role in our services.
Thank you to everyone who helped make the event such a success and most importantly, thank you to those we celebrated, for everything you’ve given to our patients, teams, and community.
